Kids Allowances

Discussing kids allowances gives me a headache!
Yes, you heard me right. A big pounding headache is what I end up with when I find myself discussing kids allowances. Do you get one too?

To give or not to give kids allowances has been, and still is, a hotly debated topic among many different people from all walks of life. From experts to family coaches to highly successful entrepreneurs to parents, the topic of kids allowances has not been resolved.

I don’t think it ever will be resolved to everyone’s satisfaction either. Why? Because everyone is entitled to his or her opinion and everyone has an opinion on kids allowances.

Personally, I am against kids allowances. I do not believe that kids learn the value of money when it is given to them. No, I believe in entrepreneurial skills and creative thinking.

I believe in fostering our kids financial independence with helping them find kid-friendly, creative ways to make money on their own. I know I want my two kids (Xanthe and Quinn) to grow up believing they are capable of earning their own money and not waiting around for someone (me, their grandparents, aunts and uncles, or even their bosses) giving them moola.

Moola is to be earned and not given! Earning moola increases kids self-esteem and confidence. Giving kids allowances, in my humble opinion, leads to a sense of entitlement. Positively not! No matter how much time and patience it takes, I will not give my kids allowances. They will learn to love earning money! ;o)

Don’t I sound strong and decisive? You betcha I do!

There is so much heated talk about kids allowances that I decided to spend some quality time researching this topic. It’s enough already with these headaches! ;o)

Kids Allowance Here is your copy of my FREE ebook “Allowance Secrets: To Give or Not To Give” where the top 25 “kids and money” experts, family coaches, and highly successful entrepreneurs share their personal opinions and tips on whether or not kids allowances should be given. Before you make your decision, grab your copy here: www.AllowanceSecrets.com

Now don’t get me wrong. Your opinion is just as worthy as those in this FREE ebook. All I’m saying is that if you find yourself on the fence, one way or another, here are some helpful viewpoints to help make up your mind.

Remember Glinda from the “Wizard of Oz?” I love the “Wizard of Oz.” Anyway, at the end of the story when Glinda is with Dorothy, as the Scarecrow, the Lion and the Tin Man stand by, she tells Dorothy that “it’s not how much you love, but how much you are loved” that’s really important.

I use this example here because it’s not the giving or not giving of kids allowances that is important. What’s important is your decision to create a path for financial success where your kids can grow up secure with their money.

Here’s to you making the best decision for your family when it comes to giving or not giving kids allowances!
